Bringing your baby home for the first time is a life-changing moment: filled with joy, but also lots of questions. This interactive, in-person workshop is designed to guide you through the essential skills and knowledge you need for those very first days. Led by a highly experienced maternity nurse and the team at Nanny Collective, this session blends practical demonstrations with clear, reassuring advice.
What we’ll cover:
Creating a safe and nurturing space - how to set up your baby’s environment for sleep and care, including safe sleep practices, hygiene, and gentle handling techniques.
Getting to know your newborn - understanding your baby’s body, breathing, and temperature needs, and learning what’s normal in those early hours.
Feeding with confidence - early breastfeeding guidance, recognising hunger cues, and knowing what to expect during those first feeds.
Tummies and nappies - what to expect with digestion, spit-ups, and nappies, including what’s typical and when to be concerned.
Recognising early health signs - spotting common concerns like jaundice and understanding when to reach out for professional care.
Hands-on practice - practice key techniques the participants are most interested in, like swaddling, holding, and nappy changing, with personal guidance and time for your questions.
By the end of this workshop, you’ll leave feeling more prepared, more confident, and ready to care for your baby with love and peace of mind.
